Content Guide: Based on the 1982 Alice Walker novel, THE COLOR PURPLE tells the story of fourteen-year-old Celie and her life growing up as an African American woman in rural Georgia in the 1930s. Abused by her father, a victim of incest, married off without her consent to a physically and emotionally abusive husband, and separated from her sister and children, Celie perseveres through it all to discover her inner strength and true value.
