SALARY: $16.90 per hour

REPORTS TO:  Wardrobe Supervisor, Costume Director

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

Attend all dress rehearsals and performances to maintain and organize costumes and assist cast members with costume changes. Assist with daywork when necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the order and organization of dressing rooms and assigned costumes at all times. 
  • Inventory and review costumes prior to each dress rehearsal and performance. 
  • Organize and keep track of all costume pieces whether in the dressing room, quick change booths, or backstage when transporting costumes and presetting. 
  • Assist the actors during dress rehearsals and performances changing into and out of costumes, including quick changes as assigned by the Wardrobe Supervisor. 
  • Cary out emergency repairs as they arise. 
  • Recognize where maintenance work needs to be conducted and convey all dressing notes and repair notes to the Wardrobe Supervisor and Wardrobe Assistant in a timely manner. 
  • Advises Wardrobe Supervisor on matters of specific rigging or actor comfort, as necessary. 
  • Collect costumes after each dress rehearsal and performance; inventory, hang, and collect laundry. 
  • Assist with laundry and daywork duties when necessary. 
  • Maintain a calm professional demeanor for performers at all times. 
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Wardrobe Supervisor or Costume Director. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous professional theatrical wardrobe experience preferred. 
  • Basic sewing skills as it relates to repairs and quick rigging. 
  • Proven history of reliability and a strong work ethic. 
  • Possess a strong attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, efficiency, multi-tasking, and ability to prioritize and self-motivate. 
  • Ability to take directions and see a task out to completion. 
  • The ability to work both independently and as a positive team member. 
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude. 
  • Remain calm under stress; deescalate when appropriate. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and timelines. 
  • Ability to work long shifts and overtime hours while maintaining a positive and collaborative attitude.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to maintain a stationary position for extended periods. 
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, talk, see, and hear. 
  • Ability to hear verbal notes and write them down on paper. 
  • Frequently required to use repetitive hand motions and to reach and bend. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. to the height of 3 to 4 feet. 
  • Ability to work and move in dimly lit areas.
