Broadway Studio provides transformational musical theatre training through experienced faculty. Students will work with teaching artists and instructors from top universities and Broadway companies, as well as cast members and creative staff from Broadway At Music Circus. Their professional experience and perspective magnify the impact of our classes and give our students invaluable instruction and informed insight into the performing arts industry. In addition to our technical training, students will increase their confidence, develop a stronger sense of self and be a part of a supportive theatre community.

INTERMEDIATE MUSICAL THEATRE TRAINING
Tuesdays & Thursdays | 4:30 – 7:30 pm
Students build upon intermediate skills as we introduce more complex movement, acting, and vocal material.

ADVANCED MUSICAL THEATRE TRAINING
Mondays & Wednesdays | 4:30 – 7:30pm
Students with a strong dance and/or voice foundation learn and perform challenging choreography and vocal material.
Age Range: 12-18 (18-year-olds must be currently enrolled in High School)
Audition Requirement: Audition date July 2, appointments available between 4:00pm – 8:00pm. Please prepare one 32-bar audition cut of a musical theatre selection that shows both acting and vocal range (approximately 90 seconds of a song from a musical or movie musical).
Classes: Acting the Song, Dance, Audition Techniques, Production Number, Cold Reading.
Spots Available: Up to 36 students selected, maximum 12 students per pod.
Tuition: $1,350 per participant
*Scholarships and payment plan available
Acceptance to the program will be determined by the application and audition/interview. Pod placement will be based on age, availability, and current level of training.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

AUDITION TECHNIQUES
Gain confidence through insight, guidance and practice in professional auditioning.
PRODUCTION NUMBER
Collaborate as a group while learning a song-and-dance ensemble number that will emphasize vocal harmony and movement precision.


DANCE
Refine dance skills by learning choreography from a Broadway show, taught by an experienced Broadway performer.
ACTING THE SONG
Receive individualized acting and vocal coaching on a new song selection chosen by your instructor.


FACULTY

Brett Teresa has spent over 15 years in NYC as an AEA actor, director, producer, writer, and audition coach. Originally from Sacramento, he now partners with Broadway Sacramento to bring his professional expertise home. He studied musical theatre performance and directing at UC Irvine. As a director, Brett has worked professionally and educationally with AMDA, Stagedoor Manor, Inside Broadway, Wanderlust Theatre Company, Broadway Kids Auditions, and Celebrity Cruises Productions. As an audition coach, he runs a technique studio whose clients have appeared in Broadway shows including Hamilton, Beetlejuice, Wicked, Les Misérables, Annie, Godspell, The Music Man, Anastasia, Spiderman, Hair, and Evita.

Angel Reda is best known for her extensive work in the Broadway musical Chicago, where she has performed every female role (except Hunyak) over two decades. Other Broadway credits include The Cher Show and War Paint (Miss Smythe). Broadway LA: Wicked (Elphaba u/s) and Follies. National Tours: Chicago (Roxie Hart), Hugh Jackman in Performance (Featured Performer), and Sweet Charity (Ursula). She made her Kennedy Center debut in Schmigadoon as the Countess. Regional highlights: Damn Yankees, Victor Victoria, Intimate Apparel, The Sound of Music, and The Wild Party (CEA Best Actress). TV/Film: Power Book II: Ghost, The Undoing, SAMI, Stepford Wives. Jacob Gutierrez-Montoya is a highly regarded Master Teacher and internationally recognized choreographer. With a background in regional arts programs, Jacob has performed professionally worldwide and showcased his work at prestigious festivals. He has served as a member of the artistic staff at various organizations, including The Sacramento Ballet, B Street Theatre and Broadway Sacramento. Jacob’s choreography has won top awards and has been featured in film and television productions. He is currently the Artistic Director of Hawkins Contemporary Jazz Company and Sacramento Dance Theatre.

Kyle Coffman made his Broadway debut as an original cast member (‘A-rab’) of the 2009 revival of West Side Story, directed by Arthur Laurents. He originated the role of ‘Henry’ in Disney’s Newsies on Broadway and served as the model for the official logo. Kyle was an original cast member of the Broadway revival of The Mystery of Edwin Drood, starring Chita Rivera. In 2021 he played the role of ‘Ice’ in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story.” He has been seen in various other plays, films, and regional musical theatre productions throughout his career, including multiple performances on the Tony awards.

Notifications of acceptance will be sent on April 25, 2026.
