Reports to: Music Supervisor, Music Directors

Overall Responsibility

Assist the Music Supervisor and Music Directors with the orchestrations for assigned productions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation, revision, copying, and distribution of musical orchestrations while maintaining the professional standards put forth in the “Music Preparation Guidelines”.
  • Attend all orchestra read-throughs, wandelprobes, dress rehearsals, and rehearsals with the orchestra.
  • Attend each pit changeover and assist as instructed.
  • Other responsibilities as designated by the Music Supervisor and Music Directors.


  • A serious interest in the theatre profession with a B.A. in Music or Musical Theatre.
  • Strong Mac skills and extensive experience utilizing Finale or Sibelius software.
  • Demonstrated experience in professional work for the musical theatre.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to plan ahead and anticipate potential setbacks.
  • Ability to calmly and succinctly resolve conflict and crisis.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment that requires working under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, efficiency, prioritization, and multi-tasking.
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude.
  • Ability to remain in a stationery position for long periods of time.
