    Content Guide

Some shows may not be appropriate for everyone. We offer these assessments of show content and age recommendations to help determine if a show is appropriate for you and those you bring to the theater.
Young children may also not have the attention span for our shows which typically run 2 1/2 hours including intermission.

As a courtesy to all patrons, children under 4,
including babes in arms, are not permitted in the theatre.

Questions? Please call our box office: (916) 557-1999.

Recommended for ages 16 and over
The musical contains explicit language and mature situations. Adapted from the 1994 film, it's set to well-known pop songs and has a heart-warming message of love, friendship and loyalty. Show content includes drag queens, transexuals, homosexuality and homophobia.

Recommended for ages 10 and over
Based on Buddy Holly's quick rise to fame becoming the world's top recording artist, this musical contains the singer's best well-known hits from the golden days of rock 'n' roll. The show contains mild profanity. The plane crash that took his life at the age of 22 is only referenced and is not acted out.

Recommended for ages 13 and over
Based on the 1983 film, the musical contains well-known 80s hits and follows the story of a steel mill welder by day and bar dancer by night who aspires to be accepted to a prestigious ballet academy. The show contains mature content, including sexy costumes and choreography, and strong language.

Recommended for ages 4 and over
Three blue-painted men create music, art and hilarity in unusual ways in this unique and long-running show. Because the show uses mostly visuals, music and action, rather than words or a plot, Blue Man Group appeals to all ages.

Recommended for ages 8 and over
Based on the 1992 film, a disco diva has to go into protectice custody after witnessing a murder. Placed in a convent, she uses her musical ability to help revitalize the church. The comedic musical has a generally wholesome message, and the violence in the plot is largely implied, and not graphic.

Recommended for ages 8 and over
Written as a prequel to the beloved The Wizard of Oz, children and adults will all be familiar many of the characters in Wicked. Some of the plot might be complex for kids and scenes with the flying monkeys may frighten younger children, but themes of bullying, popularity and acceptance will speak to school-aged kids.
